Matignon Ends Mask Mandate

Starting on Monday, March 7, students and teachers will no longer be required to wear masks at Matignon.

Matignon has instituted a mask mandate for the past two school years since in-person classes started again in September 2020.

In an email sent out on Friday announcing the end of the mask mandate,  Headmaster Tim Welsh lists several reasons for ending the mask mandate such as the decrease in Covid cases across the state and country as well as having no positive Covid cases for the past two weeks at Matignon.

However, not all areas of the school will be mask free. Masks will still be required in the nurse’s office and on buses. The email also states that teachers have the right to require masks in their classrooms.

Furthermore, the mask policy would be evaluated weekly and changes could be made based on situational changes.
